Ascend AI ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how it's shared, how long we keep it, and your rights. Because our core feature analyzes photos of your face, Section 2 ("Photos and Face Data") covers that collection in detail — please read it carefully.
2.1 What we collect. When you complete the onboarding scan, Ascend AI captures two selfie photos — one front-facing and one side profile — using your device's camera. These photos are considered "face data" under Apple's App Store guidelines. We do not use Face ID, facial recognition, ARKit face tracking, face embeddings, or any other biometric identification technology. The photos are treated as input images for a one-time AI analysis only; they are never used to recognize or authenticate you.
2.2 How we use it. The two photos, together with your onboarding quiz answers, are sent from your device to our backend (Supabase) and then forwarded to Google's Gemini API for the sole purpose of generating your personalized appearance analysis. We do not use your photos to train models, to generate content for other users, or for advertising.
2.3 In-app consent. Before any photo is captured, the app presents a dedicated consent screen that discloses what data is sent, who receives it, how it's stored, and how long we keep it. You cannot proceed to the scan without affirmatively tapping "I agree." You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the analysis or your account from Settings.
2.4 Who we share it with. Your photos and quiz data are shared with two processors only:
Your photos and face data are never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party, and are never sold.
2.5 Where it is stored. Photos are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket scoped to your account and accessed only via short-lived signed URLs. Analysis records are stored in our Postgres database behind Supabase Row Level Security.
2.6 How long we keep it. We keep your photos and analyses until you delete them. You can delete any single analysis from the Settings screen. You can delete your entire account — which permanently erases all photos, analyses, and account data — from the "Delete Account" option in Settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Ascend AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us at the address below and we will delete the associated data.
We use industry-standard security measures including TLS for data in transit, encrypted storage, Supabase Row Level Security policies keyed to your account, short-lived signed URLs for photo access, and server-side management of all AI-provider API keys.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes affecting how we use face data will also be surfaced inside the app.
What we collect: Front and side selfies you submit through the in-app camera.
Why: To perform AI-powered facial analysis that generates your personalized rating, category breakdowns, and improvement recommendations. We do not use your photos for advertising, model training, or any other purpose.
Retention: Photos are stored encrypted in private Supabase Storage, accessible only via short-lived signed URLs tied to your account. We retain them for as long as your account is active so you can review past analyses and compare progress over time. You can delete individual analyses from the analysis screen, or your entire account from Settings → Delete Account; deletion permanently removes all photos and analysis data within 30 days.
Third parties: Photos are transmitted to Google (Gemini API) solely to run the analysis. Per Google's Gemini API paid-tier terms, submitted content is not retained beyond serving the request and is not used to train Google's models. Photos are also stored at rest by Supabase, our backend provider, under their data-processing terms. Neither Google nor Supabase uses your photos for any purpose other than providing the service.
No biometric identification: We do not generate or store faceprints/biometric templates, do not perform identity verification, and do not match your photos against any database.
